LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A Lexington nonprofit is trying to give back to moms this month.
In honor of Mother’s Day, The Nest’ is holding its second annual Women’s Toiletry Drive.
According to a press release, the Nest set a goal to collect at least 3,000 donations of women’s toiletries, mostly deodorants, shampoos, body wash, and specialty products for people of color.
Donations are being collected until May 31.
“If you think about the 500 families a month that we see in our family assistance program, I’d say the majority of them are women and mothers. So if you think about almost all of them are getting toiletries, multiple toiletries. That’s thousands of toiletries every month that we go through,” Kati Nichols, marketing coordinator at the Nest, told FOX 56.
Donations can be dropped off in person before 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Nest on 530 N. Limestone.
Last year, the organization said it gave out roughly 6,000 hygiene products to support people in need.
